With just a click of a button, you could be making an awesome purchase or a regretful one -- especially if you're a newbie to the online shopping experience. But don't fret! Here are a few simple tips I've compiled to help you avoid some of the most common mistakes:
1. Assuming that a piece will always be available
Hate to ruin your hopeful spirit, but don’t be so sure that the awesome labradorite ring or citrine earrings will be available tomorrow, or the next day...or the day after that. Just like a store at the mall can run out of jeans in your size, an online jewelry store — like Crown Jewelry — can also sell out of its popular items! So whether you’re shopping for yourself or gifting someone else, you may want to jump on that great piece that fits your budget.
2. ONLY browsing sale items
I’m all about saving money where I can, but sometimes paying full price on a item is totally worth it. I mean, of course, have a budget and do your best to stick to it, but you may want to leave some wiggle room for special, unexpected statement pieces. Because you never what you’ll come across, don’t limit yourself to items that are ONLY marked down. Our jewelry under $30 and markdowns consist of several super-hot trends, but if you're obsessed with a higher-priced piece of fashion jewelry that you love -- no worries! Just means it might be time to slip out the good 'ol credit card.
3. Not reviewing the fine print early on
This is holiday season and the vibe of gift-giving is swarming all around you. From commercials to your newsfeeds, it’s all about finding “the perfect gift.” So because of this dire need to give your bestie, sister, mom, or coworker the most amazing gift ever, it’s easy to overlook return and exchange policies when you first start shopping online. But be smart! Not all companies offer direct communication with their CEO in regard to their chosen products if need be (like our very own Kerry Cromer!), so read the fine print. Even if you feel 100 percent sure your person will love the gift — be smart.
